06/07/2023 - National Showcase - Houston, TX Benjamin is a C/1B who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame stout build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Behind the dish shows an easy sit with active feet and presents a low target that pitchers lover throwing to. Works through the baseball and gains ground towards second base with good momentum towards target. Made on-line throws consistently to second base from a high 3/4 release point with an arm velocity up to 81mph and a best pop time of 2.15 seconds. He is vocal behind the plate shows the traits to be a good leader. At 1B he works to center the baseball with ability to pick out hops. Fields out front with soft hands and keeps his eyes behind glove. Made accurate throws to second base with ability to spin glove side. Benjamin showed better at first base during his workout. A right-handed hitter he hits from an athletic and closed stance. Simple and repeatable swing, with quiet actions, and tracks ball to bat. Gets knob to C and keeps his hands inside the baseball. A direct barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 86mph. With another year of development, we foresee Benjamin having opportunities to play at the next level.

03/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Benjamin is an athletic catcher who has a bright future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times were in the 2.12-2.22 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Benjamin has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
