Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

10/05/2022 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic (2025) Bennett is a talented OF/RHP in the 2025 class. Scouts describe him as a quiet leader who works hard at his game. In the OF he has a plus arm (85 velo) that is extremely accurate. He has a quick release from a high slot and can shut down the free 90s. Feet work well and fields in an athletic position. Hands are soft and he can protect the baseball. Working on his reads and angles will push him into the elite defender category very soon. On the mound, he has a solid idea for pitching and is aggressive. He can get ahead early in the count and put hitters away with his off-speed late. His Fb topped at 80 and pounded the zone. His CB sat 74-5 with 11/5 shape and got hitters to chase. His CH showed deception and sat 72-4. At the plate, he has a smooth swing from the left side. Generates hard contact (86 exit velo) and line drive production. Has awareness for the zone where he reached base 6 out of seven plate appearances (4 hits, 2 BBs). Overall, Bennett is a solid two way player and a must follow in the 2025 class.

03/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Bennett is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, he takes aggressive routes to the baseball, with active/efficient feet, and ability to cover ground in all directions. Showed good lateral range as he works behind/through the baseball with a clean transfer off his left foot. Made accurate/on-line throws into infield from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 80mph. On the mound, he separates his hand on-time, with a loose/clean arm stroke, and lands square to his target. Gets a good rear hip coil, with a clean leg lift, and gets his chest over his front knee. Shows ability to repeat his delivery and keeps his eyes on target throughout. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 74-75mph with good movement in the zone, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth and tight spin, and a changeup with downward tilt that he throws with FB arm speed. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Starts with an on-time glide step and takes an aggressive hack. Keeps his weight between his knees and has a fast barrel through the hitting zone. A direct/on-plane barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. With 3 1/2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

10/24/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - West Windsor (Trenton), NJ Bennett is an athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 70-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink but throws too hard resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 5 years to further develop, Bennett has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
