03/27/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Blaine is a lean, tall RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he creates good angles and works to square balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Blaine has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
