Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Little Elm, TX Blake is a 2024 SS/RHP prospect from Arlington, TX. At short, he shows off active, efficient feet and covers ground to all angles. He does well to get in a squared fielding position and presents his hands out in front. He gains ground to his target, doing a good job of working through the baseball. He keeps his eyes behind his glove when fielding to the backhand and follows his flips to second on double plays. His exchange is clean and he has a loose arm action with good arm whip. He makes consistent, accurate throws across the diamond with carry to his target. He recorded a max raw velo of 85 MPH. At the plate, he starts in an athletic, open stance and gets a good load back with a squared stride to the pitcher. He has very simple actions and keeps his balance centered through his swing, with smooth rhythm and a lower half that leads. He gets good separation and has an impressive on-plane bat path to the ball. He squares the ball up consistently and sprays line drives to all fields. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose, quick action and features a 3-pitch mix at good varying speeds. He does well to gather his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. He keeps his eyes on the target and stays squared to the plate on delivery, doing well to extend through his target. Pitches with a lot of intent and shows some athleticism on the bump. His FB reached a max velo of 83 MPH and he did well to keep the ball down in the zone. SL has nice shape and good spin, and he did a great job of throwing his CH with FB arm speed. Overall, Blake is an exciting prospect that has the tools necessary to play at the next level!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
