07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Blake is a big strong 1B, who shows the ability to be coachable and learn. Defensively Blake shows the ability to move laterally, and anticipate the baseball with a good prep and ready position. He needs to continue to work on his throwing mechanics, this will allow him to move over to third as well which will open more doors for him. Also to improve his throwing mechanics he needs to focus on his footwork during the throw, this will let his body work together, and also let him gain ground when throwing. At the plate Blake shows a good setup in the box, and also the ability to use his lower half very well. To improve his game at the plate Blake needs to work on his contact points, and letting the baseball travel into the hitting zone.

02/17/2014 - National Tryout - Rindge, NH Blake continues to work hard and progress in his skill-set. Offensively, this RH hitter displays a solid base with good balance in his setup. He delivers the barrel with quick hands, hitting line-drives and creating some pop. Defensively, he gets into a good ready position and fields the ball cleanly. He shows good footwork around the bag and can pick inaccurate throws. Only a 2018 grad - Blake still has a lot of time to develop his game.

07/17/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 3 Blake is a 2018 graduate who is a C/RHP/1B. Behind the plate he displayed soft hands, square setup and he gains ground/centers the ball when blocking. Blake needs to lower his positioning, quicken feet/exchange and long toss. On the mound he has good balance, rhythm , direction and he throws strikes. He needs to loosen/lengthen his arm action, stride longer and finish lower. As an infielder Blake needs to work on his footspeed/agility and his basic fielding position. At the plate he has an athletic setup, hands back load, short stride and centered balance. His stride is too early which throws off his rhythm/tempo. He needs an overall smoother approach and get all of his parts working together. Blake is a good kid but he needs to be more aggressive/assertive on the field. He has the ability to be a good player if he makes the adjustments to his game and works hard.

02/19/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Blake is a young catcher with average size. Defensively, Blake has playable footwork, he lets the ball travel, and he squares his body to his pitcher. He tries to keep the ball in front to block and he throws with a long arm action to 2nd base. Offensively, Blake has a square setup, a short stride, and decent bat speed. He tracks the ball well, he has a short stroke, and he can work the ball gap-to-gap. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Widen base
2. Receiving / Blocking
3. Long toss
Offense
1. More lower 1/2
2. Don't wrap bat

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
