04/17/2011 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Blake is a tall, solid, and athletic two-way player in the OF plus on the mound that will graduate in 2012. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.12 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in tracking down balls, displaying range. Routes / angles are solid as he works to get behind balls while playing through balls with momentum to his target. Throws are consistent, accurate, and show on line carry into his target. He needs to stay behind throws more, finishing in line to his target. Arm slot is low as he will benefit by raising slot and working to stay on top while also getting on a long toss program. Offensively, Duncan shows a balanced, squared stance. Hands are quick but work through a long, level swing path with power showing best to the pull side. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. For hitting grades to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-80 mph on a flat plane. Off speed pitches are below average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Command and control can also be issues as he needs to work on throwing more strikes with all his pitches. Blake has a lot of athletic abilities and potential to be a solid collegiate OF as he continues to improve.
