Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/14/2022 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex(Ages 12-14) Blake is a high baseball IQ 2B/RHP in the class of 2027 out of Fairview, TX. Defensively, he displayed a good first step with solid fielding mechanics by getting in a low fielding position with his glove out front. He had good clean exchanges with strong feeds to his targets. At the plate, he used a leg kick to get off his back side to hit balls hard while making adjustments to his swing/approach with ease. On the bump, he threw a firm fastball with arm side run at 62 mph. His off speed was decent and only used it if he had to. Blake could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, arm path/care, bands, strength training, speed & agility.

11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Blake is a 2B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 2B, he shows ability to close distance on baseball with active feet. He works to center the baseball and showed good feel for the position. Good footwork and glove angle to his backhand side. Made accurate/on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 66mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and has level eyes. He works with a good tempo and has a simple and repeatable delivery. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 60-62mph, a cutter with 9/3 shape that he throws from same window as FB, and a developing changeup he throws with FB arm speed but needs to adjust grip to get more of a speed variance. At the plate, he hits from a tall and square stance. A simple setup to start and takes a level swing. Keeps bat flat in the zone for a long time and uses whole field. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 57mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development until he reaches high school, we foresee him having a good high school career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
