08/08/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Cleveland, OH Blake is an athletic catcher who stood out as a prospect at the All Ripken Games. Behind the plate, he shows a firm mitt with excellent pocket awareness, consistently sticking pitches. He is working on improving his ability to get his body down more quickly during the blocking process. His pop times average around 3.00 seconds, with accurate throws, and these times are expected to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Blake takes an aggressive approach, with loose hands driving through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball and uses all fields with a line drive approach, showing a strong feel for the barrel and consistently putting the ball in play. With time and dedication, Blake has the potential to further elevate his game significantly.

04/05/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Blake showed well in Myrtle Beach at the PreSeason All-Ripken Games. He has an athletic, projectable frame and plays the premium position of catcher well. He sits well behind the dish making him appealing for pitchers to throw to. His hands are solid with a feel for receiving and decent footwork out of the chute. He can continue to make his exchange and release more efficient when throwing to bases. At the plate Blake made excellent adjustments as the event went on and got some key hits along with a few loud outs. He generates good bat speed and looks to damage at the plate. A little better head discipline and getting ready to hit a bit earlier should help his consistency in the batter's box. Overall, this is a good young prospect who will continue to develop.

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Blake is a talented C/3B in the 2030 class. Behind the plate, he shows effective feet and clean actions. He gains a low and athletic fielding position and the ball sticks to his glove. He redirects the baseball with quick and clean feel and obtains a short and loose 3 qtr. slot. Arm plays at 58 and his release is quick at 2.97. In the field, he has solid pre-pitch movements and centers his body to the baseball. Stays in control of his body and demonstrates a great feel for the hot corner. At the plate, he has an athletic base and his body is in rhythm with the pitcher. Has a middle of the field approach and uses a short and direct path to barrel the baseball at 61 exit velo. Overall, scouts feel Blake plays above his age level and has a very promising career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
