10/17/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14)
Blake works from a slightly closed stance and the plate and takes a soft stride that brings his front foot to a square position. Blake should work to control the bat more by activating the hands in his load as opposed to allowing the hands to drop as the stride/load complex progresses. Creating some rhythm and fluidity to the launch will be beneficial to Blake as this will allow the hands and body to work as a single unit. Blake does take a level swing and demonstrates the ability to stay balanced throughout. Letting the ball travel deeper into the hitting zone will allow the swing path to be shorter and also allow for greater extension through the baseball at contact. Utilizing the lower half of his body more will help to increase bat speed and will allow Blake to drive the ball to the gap more consistently.
