11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Blake showed a good defensive set-up, good pre-pitch actions, and a solid upside in game play. He makes routine plays, fields pretty clean, and throws with some accuracy to his target. If he can play in a lower position, improve his exchange, and add arm strength, defensive numbers will get better. At the plate, Blake puts the ball in play and went 1-4 at the dish with 2 walks. He has a good set-up, solid approach, and he can spray the ball to all fields. He has good strike zone awareness and he showed the ability to spray the ball to all fields. He will need to avoid stepping in the bucket, shorten his swing, and let the ball travel deeper in order to improve offensively.

08/01/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Blue Springs, MO - AM Blake is a young two-way player in the OF plus at 2B with a frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF but he needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to target. At 2B, feet are active displaying playable hands. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with hands and feet working well together but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to help aid in getting more carry on his throws. Offensively, Lynn shows a solid setup with rhythm but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving with instruction and adjustments. With 2 years to further develop, Blake has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
