10/17/2010 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Bobby is a young RHP / 3rd baseman that can hit from both sides of the plate. On the mound, Bobby has a good / loose arm action and he repeats his delivery well. He has good glove side lead, solid off-speed pitches, and he fills the zone with strikes. Improved balance, more eyes to his target, and added arm strength will only help mound effectiveness get better. In the INF, Bobby has soft hands, playable feet, and he makes plays consistently. He has smooth actions, natural instincts, and a clean exchange from glove to hand. Bobby has a long arm action and delivers the ball accurately with average arm strength across the diamond. Defensive grades can continue to improve if he can use his body more when throwing to his target. Offensively, Bobby is equally as good from both sides of the plate. He has a tall approach, good balance, and average bat speed. He has a still head, he tracks the ball well, and he makes solid / consistent contact. Bobby has a fluid swing from both sides and hits the ball hard to the pull side. If Bobby can improve his load, add physical strength, and tap into more lower 1/2, offensive numbers can further spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
