01/26/2020 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Bostyn is a tall RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Bostyn shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68mph with arm side run and sinking action. Splitter sits from 60-63mph with sudden movement. Changeup sits from 60-64mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Bostyn improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He engages his lower half and drives the ball to his pull side. Bostyn can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Bostyn is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
