08/10/2024 - Baseball Factory Prospect Combine Braden is a sophomore catching prospect from Macungie, PA. Behind the plate he shows athletic actions and a toughness you love to see in your catcher. He replaces his feet on his throws to second and throws from a high 3/3 arm slot. Has carry on his ball with an arm velocity up to 74mph and a best pop time of 2.33 seconds. Some areas of improvement he tends to get tall on his setup and throw and needs to work on his blocking and spine angle. A left-handed hitter he starts with an open stance and comfortable hands. His hands stay tight to his body and he gets the bat in drive. Good lower half turn as he hit balls consistently to all fields. He tends to dive at the baseball and cut his swing off which with some drill work and strength this will improve. In live game action he reached base multiple times including a single and a base on balls. Braden is a hard nose player who coaches love to coach. Look forward to seeing him at another event soon.

06/17/2024 - College World Series Experience - Session 1 Braden continues to impress with his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.50 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking tools show as quality tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to develop. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/24/2024 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Braden is a solid catcher who will graduate in 2027. Behind the dish, feet are active as he shows good direction, working inline his target. Pop times showed in 2.51 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and presents a firm mitt in sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. With 3 years to further develop, Braden has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
