09/26/2010 - College PREP - McKees Rocks, PA Brandon is a strong, thick 3rd baseman that can switch hit. In the INF, Brandon has decent hands and feet and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He fields the ball cleanly, squares his body, and delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. Defensive grades can improve if Brandon can field the ball further out in front of his body, lighten his feet, and raise his arm slot. At the plate, Brandon is equally as good from both sides of the plate. He has a good set-up, good bat speed, and good barrel accuracy. He squares the ball up on the barrel, and he rotates his lower 1/2 through the zone. A looser grip and more direct hands to the ball will help lefty and righty hitting grades further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
