Official Scouting Report

  • SSPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Drury continues to show as a stud in the middle of the infield. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding / throwing process as he makes all the plays. Arm strength is a plus as his throws display life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Bandon continues to shine as he displays plus bat speed with a solid feel for the barrel. Hands work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields with strength in his swing. He was 2 for 5 with a 2B and 3B at the event and even with outs, he made hard contact.

06/28/2009 - Team One West 2009 Brandon shows well above average tools in many areas. From shortstop he has polished mechanics starting with good feet and a solid low approach. He has a very good arm from across the diamond showing life and carry. As a hitter, Brandon is balanced, shows a very good bat path, and great extension. He has a solid hitting plan in the box, which makes him a dangerous hitter. Overall he is a well-rounded player with a physically mature body that may possibly show best as a college 3rd baseman.

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Brandon continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities showing as an outstanding player at the next level. He shows above average ability across the board while displaying well above average at the plate. He showed a solid eye at the plate drawing 3 BB. He was 3 for 5 with a solid 2B, displaying a solid feel for the barrel. Drury has the makings to be a special type player at the next level and will get a ton of attention from the collegiate coaches and scouts.

11/16/2008 - College PREP - Monmouth, OR Brandon is a young SS with outstanding, athletic body that does show future projection as it continues to physically mature. He has a ton of athletic ability and gets it done in the field and at the plate. Foot speed is solid average and would benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. His feet are active and aggressive but do stop and has to restart at times as he breaks down on ground balls. He presents a solid set up with outstanding hands that are soft and sure. He has a plus feel for his backhand. Defensive abilities are above average but as he learns to play through baseball with his feet and hands, defensive grades will jump. Arm strength is above average displaying life and accuracy. He would benefit from a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and carry. At the plate is where Drury really shines. He has well above average ability with superior power. He displays a strong set up that is quiet as he gets his body into a strong launch position through load. He is explosive with hands, taking direct and inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He shows a solid feel for the barrel as the baseball jumps off when centered. He utilizes his lower half well and maintains great balance throughout the swing. He displays HR potential to all fields. With 2 years to further develop, Brandon has the makings and upside to become a special type player and possible draft pick.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
