03/21/2010 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Brandon is a young, lean 2-way player that plays OF and RHP. In the OF, Brandon has good hands and reads the ball off of the bat well. He takes good routes to the ball and has a quick release from glove to hand. He has a good arm action, and his throws are online with carry to his target. If Brandon can add arm strength, and work to stay through the ball, OF skills can further improve. On the mound, Brandon has good balance, separation, and direction toward the plate. He has good rhythm, he finishes his pitches, and throws strikes. A longer arm action, and increase arm strength should help Brandon improve his pitchability. Offensively, Brandon ok barrel accuracy and he stays on top of the baseball. He puts the ball in play, but needs to use more lower 1/2 and finish his swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
