Official Scouting Report

  • LHPPosition Projection

02/18/2024 - National Showcase - Keizer (Salem), OR Brandon is a 6ft/175 LHP in the 2024 class. He continues to increase his abilities and show signs of improvement with each Factory event. He recently worked out for scouts and they feel his stock continues to climb. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber well and creates an on-time separation. Arm has a loose and easy feel with excellent extension. Engages his lower half well and his hips are in synch with his body. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from an over-the-top slot. His FB made a jump to 73 and was in the zone. His CB/SL combo ranged 57-8 and demonstrated a late sharp break to create a swing and miss type pitch. His CH had arm side run with deception at 62. Overall, Brandon is a projectable LHP arm. If he stays on this improvement path, he can open numerous doors for himself at the next level.

10/18/2023 - Arizona Easton Fall Classic Brandon is an athletic OF/LHP in the 2024 class. In the field, he has a relaxed feel and his feet are smooth. Works behind the baseball and is on-time to field. His hands are soft and he can redirect the ball back to the dirt with accuracy and carry at (77-82). On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix from an over-the-top release. His FB sat 68-75 and showed signs of command. His CB shaped 12-6 and his CH created deception at 63-4. Shows strong poise and is highly projectable at 6ft/175. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance with comfortable hands. Stays in control of his body and his path allows for consistent contact. Had a great weekend with 3 1B’s and 2 BB in 8 appearances. Overall, Brandon is a solid two-way prospect and scouts feel he has a bright future at the next level.

09/17/2023 - National Showcase - Keizer (Salem), OR Brandon is a 2024 LHP/OF prospect from Tualatin, OR. In the OF, he shows off active feet and does a great job of getting in a ready position pre-pitch. He shows range to both the glove side and backhand and does a nice job of getting behind the baseball when fielding. He squares the ball up and presents firm hands out in front and also shows off a really nice glove lane. He has a quick exchange and makes accurate throws to his targets from a 3/4 slot with strength online. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and gets a good load. He keeps his balance centered through contact and has a firm-frontside with his lower half when working through the ball. He has a line drive approach and lets his hips work through contact while finishing strong. He makes hard, consistent contact and can really drive the ball to the gap in left center. On the mound, he throws from an overhand slot and features a 4-pitch mix. He gathers his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. He has a loose arm action and does a great job of extending through his release point. He has a proper stride length and finishes with his nose over his toes. He works low in the zone with all of his offerings and has a good feel for the strike zone. His BB has good late break and projects as an out pitch, and he does a nice job of throwing his CH with a FB arm speed. Brandon is an exciting prospect that we are excited to see compete in his senior season!

06/19/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Brandon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Omaha event. At the plate is where he improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot speed. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball showed a range 69-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/19/2023 - National Showcase - Keizer (Salem), OR Brandon is a 2024 LHP prospect. At 6'0", 170 pounds he has a slender, athletic frame. On the mound, he has smooth actions and a balanced landing with a direct to target stride. He does a good job with his glove arm and has a clean arm action. Ran his FB up to 79, and featured a good MPH difference with his CB at 62 MPH. Works hard to keep all four of his offerings low in the zone. The CB shines here, with tight spin and a 12-6 break at times. Throws his FB and CB with a high frequency of strikes. Believe he will pitch at the next level! In the OF, he does a good job pre-pitch of putting himself in a good position. Stays behind the ball and features a quick exchange with accurate throws to his targets. Works hard to get a good 1st step/drop step on fly balls. At the plate, he has a squared setup with a short stride and good load. His balance is good throughout his swing and his hips work with his quick hands. Works to shorten his swing slightly and keep his head in a good spot. Really looking forward to seeing Brandon at future events and seeing his progression on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
