08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Brandon showed strongly as an OF that could hit in his latest Baseball Factory outing. Defensively, he got good reads off the bat, took good angles and caught the ball above his eyes. He flashed some carry on his throws, especially when it was a ball he had worked behind and through. Offensively, he had a patient approach - was walked 4 times in 9 at bats - showed some barrel accuracy and bat speed. Staying square with his lower half and getting extended through the ball will help his hit and power numbers. Imonti jumped on the bump as well, throwing three pitches, topping out at 74 MPH. He has loose arm action and some rhythm, but needs to stay directional and get out in front to increase velo. Overall, Brandon was always where he was suppose to be, was a good teammate and had good energy throughout the week. He has a bright future ahead of him.

09/22/2012 - Pitching/Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Brandon is a young RHP with a solid frame that will continue to improve with a heightened emphasis on strength and mobility/flexibility. He showed good balance and a smooth delivery. He is able to keep his shoulders level and gets great upper/lower body seperation. His FB showed slight action with a slight sink to it as he threw in the 70-73 MPH range. Brandon has good command over his 11/5 curve which possesses early movement and is thrown with similar arm speed as his FB. His CH has nice run to it as he is able to throw it for strikes with good arm speed. As Brandon continues to improve he will have to utilize greater extention/drive in his lower to optimally use his strong body. This will also help him stay in line and make sure his movements are as efficient as can be. Brandon is a young pitcher who will continue to improve as he continues to work hard and grow athletically.

12/17/2011 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Commuter) Brandon is a big strong kid with the ability to drive the baseball with power, but he loses power occasionally in his swing when he wants to use his arms to swing the bat instead of swinging the bat with his body. Brandon does a good job of getting his body ready during the stride and load process he just needs to load everything at once, he tends to load the hands and the body separately. He also has the tendency to want to go get the baseball with his arms and his body, he needs to focus on keeping his hands back connected to his shoulder, not letting them leak away from his body; also keeping his chest back during contact and not letting it get out over his front foot. Also Brandon does a very good job of using his back side and lower half he just needs to finish his hip rotation, he does a great job starting his hips but they stop rotating at contact; keep them rotating through out the whole swing. Brandon has the ability to be a good power hitter; he just needs to get his entire body working together.

09/24/2011 - Accelerated Pitching/Catching Weekend (Commuter) Brandon has very strong arm and body mechanics giving him a very balanced delivery. Brandon needs to work on exploding his lower half, which comes through correctly but could be used to create more velocity. Brandon also needs to work on his finish, getting his body lower through the release, which will help in explosion and weight transfer.

07/19/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 19-23, 2011 (Ages 12-13) Brandon is a 2015 graduate with a solid/broad upper body and a strong lower half. He is a hard worker and good listener and he plays OF/RHP. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, he is accurate/consistent but a little restricted. In the OF Brandon's footwork is fluid and on line, he takes good angles. He comes in on balls very well and he displayed an athletic/square fielding position. He needs to work on breaking down his feet on his approach and going back on fly balls. On the mound, Brandon's body structure projects very well. He throws a lot of strikes, his balance point is good, and he has good seperation. He needs to use his lower half more and get more extension out front. Towel drill and long toss will help greatly with lower half and extension. At the plate Brandon has an athletic setup and excellent balance. He displays an on time lower half, good bat speed, and he makes hard/consistent contact. He needs to work on locking out his front side at contact. Brandon is a very coachable young man with a huge upside. If he works on his deficiencies he will be a very good player at the next level.

01/14/2011 - Pirate City Spring Training - 2011 Brandon is a coachable RHP / 3rd baseman with a good Pitchers frame. On the mound, Brandon has a smooth delivery, he works to his balance point well, and can locate his FB. When he firmed up his front side his extension, his pitches improved. At 3rd base, Brandon makes routine plays and he throws accurately across the diamond. He has a long / loose arm action and he throws with average strength to his target. At the plate, Brandon showed a square set-up, short stride, and he has average bat speed. He has a line drive swing and he can hit hard to the pull side. Below is a couple things Brandon needs to work on to get better.

Pitching
1. More consistent extension
2. Long toss
Defense
1. Loosen body actions
2. Field further out in front of body
3. Use lower 1/2 more to throw
Offense
1. Improve weight transfer
2. Step straight to pitcher
3. Add strength

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
