04/10/2016 - College PREP - Waterford Township (Detroit), MI Brandon continues to work hard on his skills. This projectable (6'0"/200) 2-way player showed well during his last outing. On the mound, he keeps his eyes on the target and repeats well, working the ball to both sides of the plate. FB now tops out at 72 mph while showing slight sink. He has good command and isn't afraid to work the pitch inside on the RHH's. Breaking ball shows to be his best off-speed pitch with 10/4 shape - 56-57 mph. With the bat, Brandon has a balanced setup with a strong base. He takes an aggressive swing and whips the barrel, pulling the pitch on the inner 1/2 with pop. At 1B, he takes good angles working around the GB and into a square fielding position. He gets his mitt on almost everything and gathers smoothly. Brandon has upside as he looks to take his game to the next level.

06/08/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Brandon is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying slightly above average with well above power numbers through a balanced setup. Hands are quick, aggressive and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands through the ball, creating extension. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with cutting. His off speed stuff show as quality pitches at the next level. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. With 2 years to further develop, McRae has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
