Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Brandon is a tall and athletic 2019 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At 1B, Brandon is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He works off the bag well and has good footwork on double plays. At the plate, Brandon starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He stays balanced through contact and hits the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to create backside rotation and keep the barrel on plane with the ball. On the bump, Brandon gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his release point. He creates run on his fastball and has good action on his changeup. He needs to continue to work north to south in his delivery and keep the same arm speed with all three pitches especially on his breaking pitches. Brandon has great mound presence (and a projectable frame as well) and he will continue to improve with experience. He will be a great addition to a college program.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Brandon continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed range of 77-82 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Slider is harder with tight spin and sharp break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches at the next level. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves and he continues to increase foot quickness.

03/11/2018 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Brandon is a strong, solid, RHP who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Brandon stands over the rubber well, he has a loose/free arm action, and he works in good tempo. He separates on time, has a controlled landing toward home, and rotates through toward his target. If Brandon can improve the use of his lower 1/2, and work on glove side lead, abilities on the mound can get better. Offensively, Brandon has a tall/open set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, has a direct barrel to the ball, and hits line drives. Hitting can improve with sooner separation, more lower 1/2, and added bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
