Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Brandon showed as a SS/RHP at the Winter Classic. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path while showing an aggressive approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. At SS, feet are active as he squares balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his backhand play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls while playing through, presenting hands more out front, and increasing foot quickness. Throws display accuracy but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the ball quicker. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 58-62 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength, develop better off speed stuff and throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays with a lot of energy and is very coachable, working hard to be the best player he can be.

10/12/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Glen Burnie, MD Brandon is a skilled 2-way player as a SS/RHP. Offensively, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. Swing path is level as he connects and drives through the zone with extension. At SS, he shows active footwork as he works around the ground ball and into a square fielding position. He fields the ball cleanly, with sure hands and makes the plays. On the bump, Brandon works to a controlled balance point and maintains level shoulders. He gets some glove-side lead and works in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 64-67 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Rhythm/Timing
2. Lower 1/2 drive
Defense
1. Glove presentation
2. Footwork/agility
Pitching
1. Arm strength
2. Keep eyes on target
3. Drive lower 1/2 off rubber

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
