03/07/2010 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Braxton is a young, 2013 graduate showing as a two-way player at SS and RHP with a young, thin frame that shows room to grow. Currently, he projects better as a RHP for the next level. His delivery is sound, displaying solid mechanics. His arm action works clean and free, and is away from his body. Fastball shows a range of 75-79 mph with life. Off speed pitches flash potential to be quality pitches for the next level. Breaking ball displays an 11/5 downward shape with tight spin and late, sharp breaking action. He shows a solid feel for his change up, which has arm side run. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Defensively, Braxton's feet are active but he needs to be more aggressive in coming to get the ball and playing through the ball with his feet and hands. Throws show carry and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Shetley shows a balanced approach through a level swing path with power best shown to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, Braxton has potential on the mound as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
