Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Brenden showed very good potential in all aspects of the game at Pirate City. As an infielder he is aggressive to the ball and has good arm strength. Also Brenden is sure handed, footwork is quick/fluid, range is good and he has an athletic fielding position. He can improve by continuing to polish his infield skills, field the ball out front more and work on a controlled approach to the ball. On the mound Brenden has solid mechanics, good tempo, arm action and delivery. He needs to pick the target up sooner, get extension out front and drive through the finish. At the plate he has a workable load, tracks the ball well and has a good approach to each at bat. Brenden needs to improve on his power, body control and ability to hit to opposite field.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Brenden is a 2017 graduate who plays SS/RHP. He showed good arm action, solid arm strength and he makes adjustments. He needs to work on his footwork for both speed and agility; a long toss program will help with arm strength. Also he needs to get his hands out front more and keep his weight slightly forward (his is on heels). On the mound Brenden has a compact delivery, good tempo, he throws strikes and his ball gets on the hitter quickly. He has a tendency to fly open at release point, He needs to stay in-line to his target. At the plate Brenden displayed an athletic set-up, hands back in his load, centered balance and level swing path. He needs to keep his head still, his lower half is late and the overall timing is too late. Brenden is a solid player in all aspects of the game. If he continues to work hard he can be a successful player in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
