12/19/2009 - Christmas Camp and Tournament #1 Brennan is a young, 2013 graduate that shows as a two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with a solid frame. Arm strength is average through a loose arm action with accuracy on his throws as he will benefit from a long toss program. Defensively, he has instincts and abilities for his position. Offensively, he makes consistent contact with an upside as he gets instruction on his approach. He shows a solid eye and strike zone awareness as he drew 3 BB at the event. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph displaying a heavy ball on a downhill plane. Breaking ball is solid displaying downward tilt with late breaking action. He shows plus control and command with all his pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Malmay has an upside on the mound with a lot of potential as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
