05/25/2008 - National Tryout - Nashville, TN Morris showed as an athletic and talented player with two-way potential. On this day, he showed better as a position player than he did on the mound. His arm was accurate, and his throws had good carry from the outfield. His first step and angles to the ball were good as well. At the plate, he showed quick hands and raw power. Will need to work on flattening out his stroke, has a pronounced upward path which does not allow his barrel to work through the hitting zone for very long. On the mound, his fastball was 78-83 mph with some tail action. His secondary pitches were not to the level that we have seen before from him. In general, he can work to improve his direction and to smooth out his landing. A softer landing leg and better direction with his front shoulder will help him make a smoother arm stroke with more whip out front.
