06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Rasmussen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grades have improved to well above average as his hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process. He showed better range, especially to the glove side. Arm strength has improved as well as his throws showed more carry. Offensively, Brent shows a solid approach with hands working inside the baseball allowing him to work to all fields. He showed good balance with short, quick actions at the plate. He was 5 for 10 with a 2B at the event, and shows good athleticism and instincts.

02/07/2010 - College PREP - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Brent is a 2011 SS with some tools. Defensively, Brent has good hands and a decent arm. He takes good routes to the baseball, charges the ball, and fields it out in front. Brent shows a good backhand, solid exchange, and makes plays on balls hit his way. Quicker feet, a longer arm action, and more front side involvement can help his defensive grades improve. Offensively, Brent has good balance and bat speed. He has good timing, tracks the ball well, and has good barrel accuracy. Brent makes good use of his lower 1/2, and with a more compact swing, and more quiet hands, hitting grades can get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
