10/17/2010 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Brett is a young, 2nd baseman that will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Brett makes plays on balls hit his way and has fluid footwork. He moves ok laterally, he has natural instincts, and has a clean exchange from glove to hand. Brett has a short arm action and delivers the ball accurately to his target. Defensive grades can further improve if Brett can soften his glove, and use his feet more when throwing. Offensively, Brett has good balance, he tracks the ball well, and he makes consistent contact. He has average bat speed, and barrel accuracy, and he hits the ball hard to the pull side. Offensive numbers can spike if Brett can lower his back elbow, level off his swing, and spray the ball to all fields.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
