Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Breven continued to show well at the Preseason All American showcase. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He starts in an athletic ready position and fields in a square position. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he shows a 3 pitch mix, keeping hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 78-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action.

06/15/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Breven continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/29/2023 - National Showcase - Indianapolis, IN Breven is a RHP/2B prospect who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible frame. He has a simple/repeatable delivery and works with good direction down the mound. Works with good tempo and has a clean arm stroke. He attacks hitters with his FB that sat 72-76mph with some tailing action. He mixes in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. CH was best pitch during his bullpen session. In the infield, has a good prep step and plays with good energy. He works to center the baseball, with hands out front, and ability to pick out hops. He made throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 84mph. Showed good touch on his DP flip and follows. With his size he projects as a corner infielder. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and square stance. A quiet head and level eyes allow him to track pitches well. A flat barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph during his round of BP. With another year of development, we foresee Breven having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
