10/11/2009 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Brian is a young two-way player on the mound plus in the OF with a long, lean, and wiry body that is well suited for his positions. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 7.38 60 time as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He works to get behind, playing through with momentum to target as he displays solid average defensive abilities. Arm strength is above average showing life, carry, and accuracy on his throws from an over the top arm slot. At the plate, Cherrington has solid average abilities with slightly above average power through a balanced approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields but swing path gets long with barrel getting around the baseball. He flashes bat speed but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-78 mph with slightly above average to average off speed pitches that need further development to be quality pitches for the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Brian has a ton of potential in the OF and at the plate and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
