10/03/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Brian is a young, athletic, Catcher who will graduate in 2012. Behind the plate, Brian has a soft glove, good flexion, and he sticks the ball well. He deadens the ball very well when blocking, drops to his knees quickly, and shows a good idea. Brian gets rid of the ball quickly and throws with accuracy to his target. Abilities behind the plate can improve if Brian can work to gain ground and add arm strength. At the plate, Brian has a good balance and a solid set-up. He has average bat speed and barrel accuracy, and a level swing. Brian can spray the ball to all fields, but will need to liven up his hands, and shorten his stroke in order to improve offensive numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
