03/26/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Ashburn (DC), VA Brian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.03. Arm strength is well above average (86 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy and on line carry. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the dish. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap-to-gap pop.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Brian is a hard-nosed catcher with a bright future in the game. Behind the dish he has quick feet, tracks the ball well, and he receives with soft hands. He moves well laterally when blocking and showed the proper technique. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws with carry. At the plate he has an open stance, smooth load, and good balance. He has a short / compact swing and he made consistent contact during games. His bat speed is excellent for his age and he showed a lot of raw power that will play at the next level.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Brian exhibited a love of the game through his attitude and energy. At the plate, he shows patience with good pitch selection, waiting for his pitch. Quick hands with bat speed to and through the zone result in hard hit line-drives. He battles every at-bat and puts pressure on the defense. Behind the plate, he sits in well with flexion. He shows good lateral movement, working around pitches in the dirt. Exchange is clean as he puts accurate throws on the bag. Continuing to develop his footwork to throw will help pop times to continue to drop. Brian brings his all to the field and has the mental makeup that coaches love.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
