12/27/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 2 Brody worked out both behind the plate and in the OF during his time in Pirate City.  Behind the plate, Brody has good hand eye coordination, solid blocking technique, and he looks the ball into his glove well.  He has a clean exchange and throws with accuracy to 2nd base. His hands and feet work well together and he is very fundamentally sound. In the OF, Brody has a good 1st step and he makes plays consistently.  He tracks the ball well, gathers himself, and throws with a solid arm action with consistency to his target. Offensively, Brody has an athletic set-up, a still head, and good bat speed.  He makes solid contact and can drive the ball well. He is always very coachable and plays the game very hard.

11/13/2011 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Creppel showed noticeable improvements since we last saw him in Omaha, especially with his bat. His defensive actions have also improved since we last saw him. His feet are quick / athletic as he works inline to his target on his throws. He needs to work on coming out lower and gaining ground to continue to lower pop times and get more momentum towards his target. He is a quiet receiver and works to keep balls in front through the blocking process. In the OF, feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in working to get around / behind balls but needs to play through quicker to improve defensive grades. At the plate is where Brody has really improved. He has an athletic setup, showing very quick hands that generate bat speed. He shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off his bat. Brody has done a good job of making adjustments over the last couple of years and we expect his stock to rise further with continued hard work.

06/16/2011 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 In Omaha, Brody continued to show well. His pop times continue to improve as he threw his best pop time to date for us at a 2.19. He is a solid leader behind the plate and controls pitchers well as he calls a great game. Defensively, he has a good set up and strong hands. Receiving and blocking tools will play at the next level, as he shows a good understanding with his receiving and good body control with his blocking. Offensively, Creppel shows a balanced approach and works to keep his hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He works the count well and shows a strong recognition of the strike zone. Swing path is level with power numbers continuing to improve if he can focus on not releasing his top hand too soon off the bat, as well as finishing his swing better. Brody has a plus makeup and a real good feel for the game.

07/20/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 3 Creppel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved through a clean, smooth arm action but will benefit by staying a long strict long toss program. Pop times are in the 2.30 range as he needs to work on coming out lower, gaining ground with his feet. Receiving and blocking skills have really improved, now showing a quality tools at the next level as he continues to improve. As an outfielder, he has an above average throwing arm that will allow him to play CF/RF. We like his upside both behind the plate and in the OF. Offensively, Brody shows a solid setup that allows his hands to work directly to the baseball, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Cody is an athletic kid who gets good jumps on the ball off the bat.

05/23/2010 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Brody is a young, athletic Catcher that will graduate in 2013. He has a solid set-up, his hands work well, and he shows good footwork. Brody is an aggressive Catcher with a good arm stroke that is accurate to the bag. Brody can improve behind the plate with better body control, a quicker exchange, and added arm strength. At the plate, Brody has good balance and he stays inside the baseball. He can work the ball to all fields and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Hitting can get better with more loose hands, a proper load, and more direct hands to the baseball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
