12/27/2008 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic 2008 Brody is a catcher with a tall, thin frame that does show projection as it continues to physically mature and muscle strength is added. Receiving skills are slightly average with average blocking skills. He does need instruction and work to improve these skills for the next level. He utilizes his feet well through the throwing process in gaining ground and maintaining good body control. Arm strength is slightly average and does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength and carry on throws. At the plate, Lowery has near average ability with average power. He shows strong hands at the plate but does have some mechanical flaws, hindering him from reaching his potential. Hitting grades and power grades will improve with instruction and adjustments at the plate. Brody has abilities with a lot of room to improve. He is coachable and willing to make adjustments.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
