01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Schintz topped at 84 with his fastball this outing, and showed good command of his breaking ball. He started bats, and induced a lot of weak contact - changed speeds and didn't offer hitters a great look. His delivery was balanced and had good tempo at times, tended to break his hands a little late causing some extra effort to get his arm started forward - this caused his arm slot to fall, and especially hurt his fastball command, and ability to finish fully out front. When his arm had time to work from the glove, he was able to get on top of his pitches and was much more effective. Defensively, he moved into a solid fielding position and was able to carry the ball across the infield from 3B. He tended to arrive into fielding position late, causing his glove action to get a little stiff. At the plate, he showed strength in his stroke and the ability to drive the ball to the pull side. He tended to drift laterally to his front leg, and collapsed his back leg causing lift and hurting extension out front. Overall, appears to have the most potential on the mound - where his fastball had good arm side life in the mid 80s, and he showed good feel for his breaking ball.
