Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Bronson is a RHH 2-way player as a 3B/RHP who has a ton of upside. He is a very hard working individual who made adjustments and showed improvements every day. At 3B, he is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He makes the backhand play smoothly and works through it in-line toward his target at 1B. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with patience. He gets good pitch recognition, reading the ball out of the pitchers hand. He doesn't swing at much that he cannot handle and gets on base consistently (collecting 2 singles and 4 walks at the event). Hitting against a more firm front side while engaging his lower 1/2 will help to increase power at the plate. On the mound, Brown works to a controlled balance point and drives downhill toward the dish. FB now tops out at 79 as he works it in and out. Breaking ball shows 12/6 shape as he works to keep it down in the zone. Getting more glove side lead while loosening up his arm action will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. A 2018 grad - Bronson is a projectable 2-way player who will put in the work to be the best he can be.

12/13/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Shreveport, LA Bronson continues to develop, this time showing as a RHP & 3B. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch mix coming from an over the top arm slot. He works to a tall/controlled balance point, has smooth separation and repeats his mechanics well. FB ranges from 73-75 mph while showing slight arm-side run. Breaking ball has some depth with 12/6 shape - 66-69 mph. Continuing to develop his command/control will help to hit spots and improve overall effectiveness on the mound. At 3B, Brown has active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He moves well laterally, secures the ball with soft/sure hands and gains ground through the ball toward 1B. Offensively, Bronson gets good hand separation with a strong bat angle. He tracks pitches into the zone, fires quick hands and barrels the ball up driving the ball on a line to the gaps. A 2018 grad - Bronson is a versatile player who has upside on the diamond.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Bronson is a young freshman with sound hit ability. Offensively, he was short/direct with his path to contact and generated decent bat speed. He showed a loose grip, but had a tendency to be too loose - taking away strength at contact to help drive the ball. Correcting his grip will help to activate his hands and get the bat into a better drive position. Defensively in the infield, he funnels the ball in and made plays. He worked to make adjustments during the event, including the promotion of bending at his knees to get his hands further in front. All in all - Bronson has a lot of time to add strength and consistency to compete with strong ability in high school.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
