07/17/2010 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Brian showed similar defensive skills at Team One West, and improve his offensive tool grades. Defensively, Bryan has a simple set-up, good fielding mechanics, and he fields the ball out in front of his body. He stays in a low fielding position, he has soft hands, and he throws accurately across the diamond. Added arm strength and quicker feet will help defensive abilities get better. At the plate, Bryan improved both his hitting and power grades from 45's to 48's. He is an aggressive hitter with good bat speed and he stays inside the ball well. Bryan can work the ball to all fields and he uses his lower 1/2 well.

03/21/2010 - College PREP - Carson, CA Wolfe continues to show potential college tools in his play. Defensively, he displayed a quick transfer and exchange in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Feet are quick and aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with hands and feet. Glove action is sure as he showed a plus backhand as he shows off his athletic abilities on slow rollers. Offensively, Bryan is aggressive, staying inside the baseball through a level swing path. He will use the entire field displaying gap to gap power.

08/11/2009 - College PREP - La Jolla, CA Bryan continues to improve his baseball abilities, as shown by increasing his velocity to 80 mph. At 3B, had good footwork which allowed him show good range. Hands and feet worked well together as he stayed low to field ball out front with soft hands. Showed sure hands as he made every play. Had fluid loose arm action as he made accurate throws. At the plate, started with good load and attacked the ball. Good loose wrist action allowed him to be quick to hitting zone and produce good bat speed. Above average barrel accuracy produced gap-to-gap power.

06/13/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Bryan is a young 3B with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. Foot speed is solid average and he will benefit by getting on speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in coming to get and playing through ground balls with his feet and hands. Glove action is soft, quiet, and sure in making all the plays. Hands and feet work well together displaying above average defensive abilities. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength will carry. At the plate, Wolfe has solid average abilities and power through an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, flashing bat speed. He shows a feel for the barrel. He was 2 for 9 with 2 1B at the event. With 2 years to further develop, Bryan has potential and will catch the eyes of the college coaches as he continues to improve.

11/07/2008 - West Coast Select Training Fielding jumped from 42 to 48, while his hitting improved from 40 to 42. Ran 8.10 in the 60-yard dash. Very nearly a Tier B, just a little short on run and arm at this point.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
