04/16/2023 - National Showcase - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Bryant is a gifted OF/C in the 2023 class. In the OF, he has effective feet and centers his body to the baseball. Gains a low and athletic fielding position with pocket feel. His exchanges are clean and works a strong rhythm with his crow hop. Arm plays at 83 and is accurate back to the dirt. Behind the plate, he looks athletic despite being a lefty catcher. His glove has feel and keeps his eyes behind the baseball. Throws from a high 3/4 slot and registered a 2.20 pop time. Looks to be serviceable in an emergency catching role. At the plate is where Bryant shines. He has a short compact stroke and can use the entire field. Demonstrates the ability to backspin the baseball with solid hard contact (95 exit velo). Overall, Bryant is a special player who can help a college program next fall.

At the plate, hitting/power potential is excellent through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Bryant as he enters his senior baseball season.

Defensively, he showed us that he tracks the ball well over to first base and can make majority of the pick plays. On ground balls he keeps the ball in front and makes the routine play consistently. Offensively, he utilizes an open set up with a long stride to try and work the middle of the field with glimpses of pull side pop. On the bump, he does a good job of working down the mound while getting extension through the release point. He had a 3 pitch mix which includes a fastball with run (78 mph), a curveball with good arm speed and 1/7 action (66 mph) and a change up with depth at 69 mph. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
