08/29/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD Bryce Bates is a C/SS that recently played at the All-Ripken Games. On the mound he had great command of his fastball which was clocked at 57 mph. He complimented that with a 50 mile per hour change up and a forty-four mile per hour breaking ball that fell off the table. He displayed clean mechanics throughout his outings and has an obvious feel for how to pitch. He routinely pitched the head of hitters and attacked them with all three of his pitches. Defensively he proved to be extremely athletic as well as having a deadly accurate arm. At the plate he showed really good bat speed and a real understanding of the strike zone as he was able to draw four walks included a base is loaded RBI walk. He was able to follow that up with a double and he also had a hard line out to left field. One thing he doesn't do often is strike out as he virtually put the ball in play every a bat that he did not draw a walk in. Overall awareness and high baseball IQ along with his positive energy are gonna keep him on a lot of coaches radars for the foreseeable future.
