08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Bryce showed nice overall improvements in many areas during Pirate City. Defensive grades spiked. He showed an aggressive approach to the ball, soft hands, and the ability to track the baseball well. Bryce fields cleanly, gains momentum with a nice crow hop, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Bryce increased his velocity to 78 MPH. He keeps his eyes on target, has good glove side lead, and nice leg drive toward home. Bryce has a good arm circle and spots his pitches well. At the plate, Bryce showed some pop in his bat through an open stance and good balance. He has a direct barrel to the ball and flashes some pop in his stick.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Bryce is a lean, athletic OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his foot speed to cover a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work to and through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-69 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action but throws too hard. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Bryce has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
