Official Scouting Report

  • SSPosition Projection

08/14/2014 - National Tryout - Bridgeport, CT Bryce is keeping it up with his improvement from event to event as a switch hitting SS. Defensively, he showed a sure glove and got himself to a fielding position with his hands in front. He was aggressive to come get and had a good exchange to. More arm strength and quicker feet are essential for his tenure at SS when the game speeds up. With the stick, he generates good bat speed from both sides and stays in the middle with his right handed stroke. From the left hand side he has a pull approach but stays direct with his path. Loosening his actions and adding general strength will allow for more pop and hard hit frequency. In all - Bryce is a talented sophomore that has the time to add consistency as he preps for the next level.

11/18/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Middletown (Hartford), CT Bryce worked out both in the INF and in the OF during his last workout in Hartford. At SS, he showed sure hands, quick feet, and he throws across the diamond with life. In the OF, Bryce is aggressive to the ball, his feet are active and he fields in a low position. At the plate, Bryce is a better hitter from the left side. He has an athletic set-up, good balance and his swing is short and level. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Raise arm slot
Outfield
1. Long toss
2. Improve throwing accuracy
Offense
1. Avoid lunging
2. Let ball travel

06/22/2012 - Maryland Select Training & Competition Bryce is a 2017 graduate who plays infield and outfield. In the infield, Bryce has sure hands and quick footwork. He fields out in front and has an athletic fielding position. His footwork is agile and he has very good body control when approaching the baseball. Bryce was probably the most fundamentally sound infielder at camp. In the outfield, he continued to show that he has sure hands. He is athletic in the field with active footwork and playable range. He is aggressive in the outfield and hustles. At the plate, Bryce is a switch hitter with an athletic set up and good balance. He has a smooth load and takes a short stride. He uses his lower half well and has average bat speed. He made consistent contact all week and he gets great extension. Bryce is a very fundamentally sound player and shows a lot of promise. With his athleticism and ability to play anywhere in the field, his future is bright in the game of baseball.

12/18/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Trumbull, CT Bryce is a young, switch hitting SS with an athletic frame. Defensively, Bryce has good footwork, decent hands, and he fields in a square / athletic position. He looks the ball in, makes plays, and his exchange is clean. Bryce has a short / quick arm action, and he throws with average strength and good accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Bryce has an athletic set-up, a short / square stride, and good balance. He is a slightly a better hitter from the left side with good rhythm, a level swing plane, and some pop in his bat. From the right, Bryce shows good bat speed, a line drive approach, and good use of his lower 1/2. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through
2. Play low to high
3. Backhand
Offense
1. Spray to all fields
2. Load

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
