Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

09/04/2016 - College PREP - Livonia, MI Bryce continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. He shows a quick tempo and works through a repeatable delivery. Fastball shows good heavy action with tail and he hides the ball well. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late / sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in developing stock on the mound. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth / action. He is a big target and good receiver, showing proper footwork around the bag. Glove is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side.

12/06/2015 - College PREP - McCook (Chicago), IL Stuart stands at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds with long limbs and room to fill out. He topped at 79 with his fastball, and spun both a curveball and a slider. Both pitches had similar shape, with the curve coming in around 72 and the slider checking in around 80. He tended to cut the curveball off, and over threw the slider -- his best breaking ball is likely somewhere in between, with an arm stroke that resembles that of his fastball. His changeup was overthrown as well, coming in between 74 and 78. He has a live arm but needs to gain control of his body in order to create a consistent arm stroke and release point. As a position player, he showed some strength and ability to impact the ball at the plate. Though his stroke was a little long, he kept a quiet head and was able to post an exit velocity of 86 mph. At 1B, he got in front of the ball well and made a solid play on the ball. Can work to get his glove more in front sooner. Overall, has potential on the mound based on projectable frame and potential life in his arm.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
