04/07/2024 - National Showcase - Charlottesville, VA Brycen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, his fastball topped out at 60 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Brycen is a 2029 3B/RHP out of Troy, VA who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At 3B he works to keep the ball in front of him with ability to make routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 64mph (a jump of 8mph since the last time we saw him). On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. He is composed on the mound with a strong desire to compete. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 53mph with arm side run, a 9/3 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. In 1 inning of work, he didn't allow a hit or an earned run. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance with high hands. He gets knob to C and takes a square glide step. Tracks pitches well and only swings at his pitches. In live game action he reached base 2 times with 2 singles and had a sac fly. Brycen has a great attitude and was a great teammate. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Brycen is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2029. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 3B he works from right to left and closes distance on batted balls. Works into a square fielding position with a low funnel. Made consistent throws to first base, with a quick arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 56mph. On the mound, he gets a good rear hip coil and picks up his target early. He gets good extension out front and lands square to his target. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 53-55mph, a slider with 10/4 shape that he throws for strikes, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed that has some sinking action. At the plate he hits from a tall and open stance. Has an on-time stride and keeps his weight between his knees. He gets on-plane early with ability to stay long through the baseball. He hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 65mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development before he enters high school, we foresee Brycen making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
