07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) CJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.31 runner. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing (86 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard.

12/12/2020 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend CJ continues to shine on the diamond. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 69-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City CJ is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at Pirate City. In the field, CJ fields in an athletic position and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into his load on time and hits against a strong front side. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. On the mound, CJ gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. CJ shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 50-51mph with 11-5 break. Overall, CJ is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/31/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Greenville, SC CJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) CJ continues to shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Pop times showed in the 2.90 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 58-62 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

08/11/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC CJ is a C/1B prospect who will graduate in 2025. Behind the plate, CJ tracks the ball into his glove and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. At 1B, CJ shows active footwork and flashes good lateral range. He fields in a square position and keeps his throws on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing and produces solid line drives. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
