Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

11/16/2024 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Caleb is a versatile right-handed pitcher and first baseman in the 2025 class with a medium frame and solid build. At first base, he shows excellent defensive instincts, closing the distance on batted balls quickly while working to center the ball and maintaining active feet throughout the fielding process. His low funnel approach and accurate throws from a high three-quarter arm slot make him a reliable presence at the bag. At the plate, Caleb creates good rhythm, keeping his hands inside the ball and staying balanced at contact. His ability to hit to all fields is complemented by a solid bat exit velocity of up to 74 mph during batting practice. On the mound, Caleb works exclusively from the stretch, demonstrating good tempo and a consistent direction toward his target. He effectively mixes a fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup, showing versatility and potential as a pitcher. With another season of development, Caleb's skills will continue to evolve, making him an exciting prospect with a lot of upside.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Hartford, CT Caleb is a solid RHP/1B who will graduate in 2025. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows range of 66-69 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws to hard, resembling fastball. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Caleb had potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
