06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Caleb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.08. Feet are quick / athletic as he moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. He works to square balls up while displaying soft / clean hands. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing plus bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 10. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/19/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Caleb showed well offensively and defensively during his time in Pirate City. At the plate, Caleb has an athletic set-up, a short swing, and he puts the bat on the ball consistently. He gets the barrel through the zone well and he uses his lower 1/2. At SS, Caleb has playable hand and feet, and he makes plays consistently. He plays through and has accuracy to his target.

09/30/2012 - College PREP - North Little Rock, AR Caleb is a SS who will graduate in 2015. In the field, his arm action is long/loose with firm hands and active feet. He shows good range to his glove side with an aggressive approach. He can continue to work on having a lower fielding position, quicker exchange, and taking better routes to the ball. At the plate, Caleb shows consistent hard contact while showing the ability to use the entire field. His swing plane is level with good extension through the ball. Caleb is a strong player and will continue to show more power as he learns to get more turn out of his lower half and focuses on staying inside the ball. With 3 years to further develop, Caleb shows a good foundation with room to still improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
