02/15/2015 - College PREP - Monticello, IA Caleb is a solid, athletic catcher that will graduate in 2016 with a ton of potential and promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times are outstanding showing a range of 1.93-2.00 with accuracy and carry on his throws as he displays well above average arm strength. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as tremendous tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the point of contact, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap power. Caleb has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
