Official Scouting Report

07/24/2013 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 14-18) Cameron continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date and will benefit by continuing to improve foot quickness. He utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lower to date at 2.31. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and fields in front, presenting soft hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He loads well and makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 8. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be best player he can be.

01/27/2013 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Cameron is a young, 2-way player with a thin frame. Behind the plate, Cameron has soft hands, a low approach, and he centers the ball well. He tracks the ball well, has a quick transfer, and he throws with consistency to his target. Catching abilities can improve if Cameron can quicken his feet, improve his lateral movements, and add arm strength. At 2B, Cameron has firm hands, playable feet, and he makes the routine plays. His exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with average strength can consistency to his target. Quicker feet, playing more through the ball, and playing lower to the ground can improve INF skills. Offensively, Cameron has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He lets the ball travel, he is short to the ball, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Better timing and staying inside the ball will spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
