06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Cameron is a lanky, young OF/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.99 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and reads balls well off the bat, displaying range in the OF. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, McCarty shows a balanced approach and loads well. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74 - 79 mph and throws strikes, allowing fielders to make plays. He needs to develop off speed pitches for stock on the mound to continue to rise. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Cameron has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
