12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Carlos has worked hard and molded himself into an offensive threat. At the plate, he displays an athletic setup with good balance. He delivers the barrel with fast bat speed and creates hard contact, driving the ball to all parts of the field. He gets on base consistently, drawing 3 walks and crushing 2 doubles at the event. Behind the dish, he tracks the ball into his mitt and sticks it. He has a fluid exchange and works in-line towards 2B. Carlos is a very coachable player who has a great attitude and willingness to learn.

08/24/2013 - College PREP - West Harrison (NYC), NY Carlos is a 6'2"/200 lbs C/1B that will graduate in 2014. Over at first, he gets to an athletic fielding position and has an accurate arm to throw. He shows some knowledge of bag work and is a big target. As a backstop, he receives with firm hands, but needs to work lower and eliminate sway. He blocks well, accepting soft into his chest. Offensively, he has good balance, uses the entire field and showed gap pop. In all, Cabrera projects at either position at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
