09/23/2012 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Carrington is a two-way player that is a OF/RHP. In the field, he displays a long/loose arm action with life to his throws. He is aggressive with agile range and an athletic fielding position. Fielding grades will improve as he learns to create better angles and plays through the baseball. On the mound, his tempo is smooth with a controlled balance point and on time separation. Carrington stays in line with his target, has sound landing, and a complete finish. His fastball shows life with hard heavy action, slider has a 11/5 shape with late action. He can continue to work on his changeup to develop a 3rd pitch to complement his other pitches. At the plate, his setup is athletic with a balanced approach. He displays fast bat speed and a strong lower half and the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap. Hitting grades will improve with a smoother load making sure he gets his hands back without straightening his lead arm. With hard work in the areas above, Carrington will continue to see improvement in his overall skills.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
